Role Overview
To conduct site surveys of commercial properties, gather energy and waste management data, assess carbon emissions, and support clients or organisations in reducing their environmental impact. The role includes inspecting energy infrastructure, reviewing utility consumption, and identifying opportunities for improved efficiency and renewable energy adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site carbon and energy surveys at commercial properties.
- Collect and analyse data relating to electricity, gas, water, and fuel consumption.
- Inspect and record readings from gas and electricity meters.
- Verify carbon data, meter serial numbers, and consumption records.
- Identify energy-saving opportunities and recommend carbon reduction measures.
- Support carbon footprint assessments and greenhouse gas reporting.
- Funding & capital acquisition - managing end to end process of preparing, auditing and submitting comprehensive commercial funding applications
- Accessing government backed funding - proactively helping businesses access these funding pots in order to subsidise their carbon with operational upgrades
Solar PV Assessment
- Survey existing solar photovoltaic (PV) installations.
- Assess the performance and condition of solar PV systems.
- Gather generation data and identify opportunities for optimisation.
- Evaluate suitability of properties for future solar PV installations.
- Liaise with clients and technical teams regarding renewable energy solutions.
Commercial Property Inspections
- Visit offices, retail units, warehouses, industrial facilities, and other commercial premises.
- Assess building energy efficiency and operational practices.
- Document heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), lighting, and energy-consuming equipment.
- Produce accurate survey reports and site documentation.
Waste Management and Environmental Compliance
- Review waste handling, storage, and disposal practices.
- Assess recycling rates and waste segregation procedures.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste generation and improve recycling performance.
- Gather data for environmental and sustainability reporting.
- Support compliance with environmental legislation and sustainability standards.
Data Collection and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of survey findings.
- Prepare carbon assessment reports and recommendations.
- Input data into sustainability and energy management systems.
- Assist with carbon reduction action plans and net-zero strategies.
- Present findings to clients, stakeholders, or management teams.
Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of carbon accounting, energy management, and sustainability principles.
- Understanding of commercial building services and utility metering.
- Familiarity with solar PV systems and renewable energy technologies.
- Experience conducting site surveys and inspections.
- Knowledge of waste management and recycling practices.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management software.
- Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Qualifications (Desirable)
- Degree or qualification in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Energy Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Membership of professional bodies such as the Energy Institute or Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment.
- Energy assessment, carbon management, or sustainability certifications.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
Typical Duties
- Visiting commercial properties to collect carbon and energy data.

- Surveying solar PV systems and renewable energy assets.
- Assessing waste management and recycling arrangements.
- Producing carbon reports and recommending efficiency improvements.
- Supporting clients in achieving sustainability and net-zero targets.
- Working directly through our established funding partners to streamline the approval process and secure maximum capital for our clients
This role combines field surveying, technical assessment, data analysis, and sustainability consulting to help organisations reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency, and meet environmental objectives.
Full Training Provided, you will learn how to effectively conduct full carbon surveys, access funding, carbon reduction infrastructure capacity and implementation
Pay: £32,000.00-£56,000.00 per year
