Strong communication skills are essential, as this role involves regular interaction with the commercial team and other stakeholders across various levels of the business. A keen analytical mindset and advanced Excel skills are critical, with the ability to interpret and manipulate complex data sets and extract actionable insights.
Job Overview
Known internally as a Demand Forecasting Analyst, using standardised methodology and excel to format, manage and generate SKU Forecast and create Purchase order requirements within the S&OP Process
Generate demand forecasts at agreed frequency by customer and/or business channel to:
- Meet customer service level agreements.
- Minimizing overall stock commitment
- Minimising slow and obsolete stock
- Provide purchasing with recommended purchasing data.
- Provide consolidated customer stock forecasts.
- Determine appropriate levels of inventory to achieve availability levels while minimising working capital requirements.
Review and maintain SKU and supplier attributes - specifically SKU Status – ABC, Live, Stocked / None Stocked, Forecaster and Planner names, Supplier Supplier Status – Supplier and Vessel Lead time
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Review Frequency
- Establish and maintain at agreed frequency, customer demand forecasts
Stock / Service Level
- Maintain agreed levels of buffer stockholding to cope with variability in customer demand patterns and any supply chain slippage.
- Model initial stock holding requirements for a new range, wearer trial or roll-outs
- Periodically identify both slow moving and obsolete stock by customer.
Reporting
- Maintain a rolling 18 month customer demand & stock forecast
- Maintain and report a 26 week constrained demand
- Maintain adequate management information to report upon levels of availability and changes in levels of stock
- Supply KPI data and or reporting as required to help support the management and commercial agreeents of the customers
Communication
- Liaise with the commercial teams to understand all the factors that will influence and determine the demand for garments.
Supply Chain Planning and Delivery
- Validate the output from MPS/MRP before it is action by Purchasing and within the OTB and MOQ business constraints
- Make instructions to increase, decrease, cancel or create new p/o's
- Determine shipment modes, balancing the need to maximise product availability, within the constraints of the commercial agreement and the objective of maximising container utilisation.
- Work with Purchasing to re-prioritise and/or expedite production to reduce the impact of stock outs or cope with abnormal demand patterns
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
Essential
- GCSE Maths A or B as a minimum standard
- A good understanding of using Excel V lookups, creating basic formula and graphs and formatting.
- Broad experience and understanding of demand forecasting and the dependencies around it
- Demonstrate ability to decipher and explain numerical data / graphs and trends, pulling out the relevant information for the audience
- Task focused and ability to priorotise work load
Desirable
- A Level Maths
- Excel Skills using Forecasting / Lookups /VBA
- Fundamental understanding of dependies around forecasting as well as good knowledge and experience of demand forecasting, MRP, MPS processes and systems
- Proven analytical experience and presentation of data to customers and senior leadership teams
- To own and drive task to final conclusion within agreed timeframe, at the same time hold others accountable for their tasks.
- Maintain control and ability to priorotise work
