Housekeeping / Cleaning Operative

Location: Coventry City Centre

Hours: 4 days per week, 9:30am – 2:30pm (20 hours per week) Monday – Thursday

Covering maternity leave for approximately 12 months.

Salary: £12.71 per hour

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Housekeeping / Cleaning Operative to join our team. We provide temporary and emergency accommodation on behalf of the local authority and require a high standard of cleanliness and presentation across our properties.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming accommodation for residents, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning and preparing vacated rooms and accommodation units for incoming occupants.
Cleaning and maintaining all communal areas, including entrances, corridors, stairways, kitchens, lounges, offices, and toilet facilities.
Dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, and sanitising surfaces.
Cleaning bathrooms, showers, toilets, and kitchen facilities to a high standard.
Emptying bins and ensuring waste is disposed of appropriately.
Replenishing cleaning supplies and reporting stock shortages.
Reporting maintenance issues, damage, or health and safety concerns to management.
Ensuring all cleaning tasks are completed in accordance with company procedures and health and safety requirements.
Assisting with deep cleans and periodic cleaning schedules as required.
Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism when working in occupied accommodation.

Person Specification

Essential

Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Good attention to detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and management.
Understanding of basic health and safety procedures.

Desirable

Experience working within supported, temporary, emergency, or residential accommodation.
Knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe use of cleaning chemicals.

Personal Qualities

Professional and respectful approach.
Flexible and adaptable.
Positive attitude and willingness to help.
Ability to maintain standards in a busy and varied environment.
