Healthcare Cleaning Supervisor
Contract: Healthcare
Location: Coventry, CV2 2DX (University Hospital Coventry)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week on a weekly rotating shift pattern, working 5 days over 7, including every other weekend
Contract Type: Permanent
We are seeking an experienced Healthcare Cleaning Supervisor to oversee cleaning operations within a busy acute hospital environment at Coventry Hospital.
Job Description
This is a hands-on supervisory role, responsible for managing teams, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and ensuring full compliance with healthcare and Trust requirements.
This position is ideal for an experienced cleaning or domestic supervisor with strong people management skills who is looking to progress their career within healthcare facilities management.
The successful candidate will be happy working on a rotating shift pattern.
Shift Times:
- 07:00-15:00
- 08:00-16:00
- 09:00-17:00
- 10:00-18:00
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise domestic services across 5-6 hospital wards, managing approximately 15 frontline cleaning staff
- Ensure delivery of an effective and efficient cleaning service in line with Trust and departmental standards
- Allocate workloads, manage rotas, and update work schedules to meet service demands
- Carry out quality control audits and inspections in conjunction with ward and departmental managers
- Manage escalations and respond professionally to clinical and non-clinical stakeholders
- Support recruitment, induction, training, appraisals, sickness absence, and performance management
- Identify stock requirements, raise requisitions, and support trials of new cleaning materials and equipment
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- Proven supervisory experience within a cleaning or domestic services environment
- Experience within healthcare, education, or similarly regulated environments is desirable
- Strong people management and customer-facing skills
- Basic computer literacy (rotas, audits, and paperwork)
- Good understanding of cleaning standards, compliance, and health & safety requirements
- Professional, approachable, and confident communication style
