Full job description

Overview

To ensure Hygiene requirements are set and maintained across the site in accordance with legal requirements and company standards.

Duties

To supervise all Hygiene and Production staff and ensure work is carried out to a high standard.
To ensure plant is cleaned according to written schedules.
To audit written schedules to confirm work has been carried out to a good standard.
To work with the Shift Managers to compile the work sheet for the clean down days.
To work with Shift Managers on Clean down days to ensure that all tasks are completed to a good standard and sign off schedules accordingly.
To compile a weekly report to the Technical Manager & Operations Manager, reporting any instances that may have had an effect on the scheduled, Hygiene work, especially on shut down days.
To carry out a weekly stock take of all Hygiene consumables and place orders as required.
To audit plant on a monthly basis to ensure that the lines are kept to the standard required, e-mail audits to the Operations Manager and Technical Manager and keep one copy to rectify any non-conformances.
To work in accordance and promote the companies Health and Safety requirements.
To work in accordance and promote the companies Food Hygiene Policy.
To encourage staff to work as a team and to put forward ideas for improvements.
To motivate and encourage all team members.
To organize work in a pro-active manner.
To liaise with other departments in order to be effective.
To work closely with other Shift supervisors, QA and the Management team in general in order to make improvements and promote the Hygiene Department within the company.
Work under “clean as you go” policy
Assist in other areas of the business as required
Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Company
To carry out induction training of new hygiene and production operators and agency staff to ensure full understanding of hygiene requirements
Ensure accurate records are kept as required by Legislation, company and external customer and auditing bodies.

Hygiene Equipment

To ensure adequate levels of chemicals are available at the various dosing points.
To take responsibility for checking dosing units, working with the chemical supplier if required.
To ensure adequate levels of hygiene equipment are available in accordance with laid down requirements and colour coding system
To ensure adequate levels of personal hygiene equipment and chemicals i.e hand towels, soap are available at relevant wash stations.
To ensure all hygiene machinery is readily available for use and operates within Health & Safety guidelines

Stock Control

To control stock items and ensure a good level of stock is held at all times.
To ensure deliveries of chemicals are stored away immediately upon arrival.
To ensure storage areas are kept organised, clean and tidy at all times.

Hygiene Schedules

To ensure that hygiene schedules are implemented, clearly understood and followed by the relevant operatives.
To ensure schedules are audited against actual cleaning, and any inconsistencies resolved.
To continually challenge cleaning standards with a view for continuous improvements in all areas, particular focus on food contact areas.
Review hygiene cleaning cards and update accordingly ensuring any changes are trained out to all personnel

Hygiene Audits

To work with the Technical and Operations Manager’s to ensure that any issues raised from hygiene/GMP audits are actioned within a set timescale.

Health & Safety

Ensure that all staff follow the site Health & Safety policies, procedures and safe working practices. This will include (but not exclusively) handling chemicals, manual handling, working at heights, lone working, etc.
Take care of your own safety and that of others.
Ensure that products, plant, equipment, vehicles and buildings are not damaged.
Comply with health and safety procedures and instructions.
Do not neglect, misuse or damage anything provided in the interests of health and safety.
Report to your Technical Manager and Operations Manager any hazard, accident, damage or defect in order that remedial action may be undertaken
Undergo any training or instruction to enable you to work competently and safely.

Waste Management

To liaise with the Warehouse Manager to aid in coordinating the removal of Food waste and non-food waste from site.
To ensure waste bins are clean and available for use

Training

To ensure the hygiene team complies fully with the Health & Safety, Hygiene and Quality Control regulations.
To ensure necessary training is provided to deal with the above
To support the team working philosophy, through promoting team rather than individual success.
To continually review, train and develop the team in order that they both meet and maintain the high standards of performance and conduct required.
To support production in training of cleaning methods as required.
To ensure adequate records are kept as proof of training and to ensure the training matrix is kept up to date and current.

Management

To ensure the team works within the shift system, which may include weekend working and overtime, and to be flexible in terms of availability for work.

To liaise with the Technical Manager re recruitment, absence and disciplinary matters as appropriate.

Pay: £14.20-£15.60 per hour
