Role Overview
The Freight Agent will be responsible for monitoring and administrating freight collections and deliveries, while overseeing on-road transport operations to ensure all movements are completed efficiently and in line with company standards.
This role involves planning export linehauls, maintaining accurate data within internal systems, and ensuring all shipments are processed in accordance with established quality procedures. Acting as a key operational link, the Freight Agent will liaise regularly with customers, suppliers, and internal DHL Freight partners to track consignments, resolve issues, and deliver excellent service.
Key Responsibilities:
- To monitor and administrate freight collections and deliveries, plus manage on the road transport operations to ensure successful completion.
- Liaise with customers on a regular basis to monitor and process consignments and solve any operational problems
- Keep internal communications with other DHL Freight partner as necessary
- Process, maintain and update data on company systems
- Ensure shipping process is carried out in line with the company's processes and quality procedures
- Prepare required paperwork for Suppliers expert user in house TMS systems
- Planning of Export linehauls
- Participate in Monthly Team briefing sessions and weekly performance dialog meetings
- Complete all statutory and mandatory training as and when required
- Ensures that all interactions are compliant with DPDHL Code of Conduct and other compliance requirements e.g. anti-corruption
- Contribute to the First Choice continuous improvement program
Skills and Experience:
- Good organisational, IT and communication skills.
- Intermediate use of MS Office Packages - preferred
- Knowledge of Dangerous Goods - desired
- Ability to focus on identifying and meeting customer's needs (internal and external)
- Ability to think and act across boundaries ( e.g between processes and departments)
- Contributes new ideas and is happy to challenge the status quo
- Challenges self to continually improve in role
- Good communication skills both individually and to internal/external customers
- Be aware of Health and Safety standards, along with a high understanding of dignity and diversity in the workplace.
- Have a methodical and organised approach to work with the ability to think ahead and prioritise tasks.
- One year Logistics office experience preferred
- Knowledge of UK/European road transport geography preferred
- Numeracy and literacy skills essential
- Some warehouse interaction required

HOURS/SHIFT PATTERN: 37.5 hours per week (Mon – Fri)
