Overview
We are seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating laser cutting machinery to produce precise components and assemblies. The Laser Operator will play a vital part in ensuring high-quality production standards are maintained throughout all operations.
Duties
- Set up and operate laser cutting machines according to specifications and technical drawings
- Load and unload sheet metal and other materials safely and efficiently
- Monitor machine operation during production runs, adjusting settings as necessary to maintain quality
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting on laser equipment
- Assist with fabrication processes such as grinding, welding, and assembly when required
- Utilise hand tools and tooling to prepare materials for laser cutting or post-process finishing
- Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times, maintaining a clean and organised work area
- Document production data accurately and report any issues to supervisors promptly
Skills
- Proven experience in fabrication, sheet metal work, or related manufacturing roles
- Knowledge of grinding, welding, and assembly processes is advantageous
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand technical drawings and specifications
- Proficiency in using hand tools, tooling, and basic measuring instruments such as calipers or micrometers
- Strong understanding of basic maths for measurements and calculations during setup and quality checks
- Familiarity with sheet metal handling and cutting techniques
- Ability to work accurately under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills with the ability to follow safety procedures diligently
