A rapidly growing accountancy practice is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper to support our expanding client base. We are flexible and welcome applications from candidates seeking either part-time or full-time employment.
This is an office-based role and would suit a reliable, detail-oriented individual who is comfortable working independently and managing bookkeeping and accounts preparation for a variety of clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare and submit VAT returns
- Assist with the preparation of management accounts and financial reports
- Prepare year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
- Prepare working papers and supporting schedules for accounts production
- Liaise with clients and the wider team to ensure deadlines are met
Requirements
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounts administration, or a similar role within an accountancy practice
- Experience preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
- Strong working knowledge of Xero (experience with QuickBooks, Sage, or other cloud accounting software is advantageous)
- Good understanding of VAT returns, bank reconciliations, and management accounts
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple client deadlines efficiently
- Good communication and client-facing skills
