Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Roller Operator to join our surfacing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy compaction equipment to ensure the stability and durability of various surfaces. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, experience with commercial driving, and familiarity with excavators. The ideal applicant will be safety-conscious, organised, and capable of working efficiently on-site to meet project deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Operate roller compaction machinery safely and effectively across diverse construction sites
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Assist with the setup and positioning of machinery, including excavators when necessary
- Follow all health and safety regulations to minimise risks during operations
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate tasks and maintain workflow continuity
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and report any issues or malfunctions promptly
- Support other site activities as required, including assisting with general site duties
Qualifications
- Proven experience in operating rollers or similar compaction equipment in a construction environment
- Valid commercial driving licence with a clean driving record
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to heavy machinery maintenance and troubleshooting
- Experience operating excavators is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of health and safety procedures on construction sites
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks
- Organised, dependable, and capable of following detailed instructions effectively
