The Senior Network Engineer role within the Networks and Connectivity Team, based at Quadrant East, offers an exciting opportunity to lead a skilled and motivated team supporting more than 80 corporate and community sites across North Tyneside. The team plays a vital role in delivering high‑quality network services, leading on the installation, configuration and maintenance of a wide range of modern infrastructure including switching, wireless access, point‑to‑point links, inter‑site connectivity and internet services. As Senior Network Engineer, you will be actively involved in both the strategic management and hands‑on implementation of this work.

Working closely with the Principal Engineer and Network Infrastructure Manager, the Senior Network Engineer will provide day‑to‑day leadership to the Network Support Team. We are looking for someone who is motivated to deliver excellent service, able to apply modern technical approaches, and confident in using technology to maximise value and performance across the organisation.

The team has recently completed specialist training to support the replacement of the borough‑wide CCTV network, enhancing safety across public and corporate spaces. They are also actively involved in deploying emerging LoRaWAN technologies to provide strategic insights that support service improvement, financial efficiency and public safety across the borough.

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in supporting and developing a team, managing their own workload effectively while contributing to planning, reporting and delivery across the wider service. They will bring experience of delivering large‑scale or complex network projects, with the ability to assess technical options, evaluate vendors and select appropriate solutions that align with organisational needs.
