Nestled in the heart of 1066 Country, Wyland’s is a 154-acre estate just two miles from the historic town of Battle, East Sussex. Our estate boasts accommodation, a café, a shop, and a thriving fishery. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Fishery, Estate, and Maintenance Manager to oversee the operations of our picturesque estate. This versatile position involves managing all aspects of the estate, ensuring the fishery, grounds, and buildings are maintained to an exceptional standard.
Key Responsibilities:
Fishery Management:
- Oversee fish stocking and ensure the welfare of the fishery.
- Monitor water quality and manage habitat maintenance.
- Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming facilities for visitors.
Estate and Grounds Maintenance:
- Manage pathways, woodlands, fencing, and other outdoor spaces.
- Supervise contractors and coordinate seasonal activities across the estate.
Building Maintenance:
- Conduct routine inspections and maintain estate buildings in excellent condition.
- Perform minor repairs, including plumbing, carpentry, and electrical fixes, or coordinate with specialist contractors.
- Oversee maintenance projects to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
General Management:
- Manage estate equipment and ensure machinery is in good working order.
- Handle budgets and procurement for maintenance and operational needs.
- Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations.
Customer Service :
· Act as the primary point of contact for anglers, guests, and visitors across the estate.
· Deliver exceptional customer service, creating a welcoming and professional environment.
· Build positive relationships with regular visitors and encourage repeat business.
· Handle customer enquiries, feedback, and complaints promptly and professionally.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in fishery management, estate maintenance, and building upkeep.
- Practical skills in repair and maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, and basic electrical systems.
- Experience operating machinery such as tractors, chainsaws, and mowers (certifications preferred).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of environmental conservation and sustainable estate practices.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
- Experience managing budgets and supervising contractors.
What We Offer:
· Salary bracket of £35,000 to £40,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
