Contract type: Full-time (all year), Permanent, Non-residential

Line manager: Head of IT Services

Department: IT Services

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day during term time (between 8:00am and 6:00pm) and 7 hours per day during school holidays (between 8:00am and 4:00pm).

Overview

More House School seeks an experienced and capable systems & database administrator to join its IT Services Team as a senior technical specialist. Reporting to the Head of IT Services, the post-holder will be responsible for the reliability, security, performance, and effective use of the school’s core server, database, reporting, and Management Information System (MIS) platforms.

The Systems & Database Administrator is a senior technical role within the IT Services Department, responsible for the stability, security, and effective operation of More House School’s core systems and data platforms. The post-holder will act as a trusted technical expert, providing deep specialist knowledge across infrastructure, databases, monitoring, Microsoft 365, and the School’s Management Information System (MIS).

About the department:

Alongside day‑to‑day user support, the IT Services Team continues to lead the ongoing development and optimisation of SharePoint Online and OneDrive, the advancement of PowerBI reporting and analytics. These developments run in parallel with the continued integration of Microsoft cloud technologies and the enhancement of the School’s use of assistive technologies in both operational and educational contexts. The School is currently supported by a team of four full‑time IT Services staff in addition to this role, supplemented by carefully managed external support arrangements for critical infrastructure and specialist services.

This role is deemed to be one of working in regulated activity, meaning that the post-holder may expect to come into unsupervised contact with children and young people frequently in the discharge of their duties on-campus. As such, the expectations of conduct, required of all adults working at More House School, apply to this position, as does a full Safer-Recruitment vetting process of any appointee. A key responsibility of all adults working within the School is that of ensuring the effective safeguarding of all children and young people, through adherence to the School’s policies; full training is given.
