About Leo Cancer Care

Cancer is one of the biggest killers that we face today with 1 in 5 people diagnosed at some point in their life, it is something that affects us all. 50% of all patients diagnosed with cancer should receive Radiation Therapy as part of their treatment but due to the cost, size and complexity of current technology, the number that do is around half of that.

Current Radiation Therapy is delivered with a patient laid on a table while a large machine is rotated around them delivering radiation from different angles to kill the tumour. Laid on a table, many patients report that they feel like a passenger in their treatment feeling vulnerable through the entire process. Leo Cancer Care was founded with one clear goal, to bring a more human way to treat cancer and empower patients to face treatment on their feet.

Leo Cancer Care is helping make changes in Radiation Therapy by shifting to upright patient positioning, imaging and treatment. We do what we do to find a better way, a better way to treat cancer and create a paradigm shift in radiation therapy to benefit all. We will do this by improving the accessibility and medicine in cancer care globally, making cancer treatment a more human experience for all.

Working in radiotherapy not only will you be driving change for the greater good, but you'll be working on products that span a large field of different disciplines.

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our manufacturing team. This apprenticeship opportunity is designed to provide hands-on training and skill development in the field of manufacturing, specifically focusing on inspection, assembly and unit testing of the Patient Positioning System associated sub-assemblies and products.

Tasks & training details

Position summary:

The successful candidate will work under the guidance of experienced professionals, gaining valuable experience and knowledge in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Relevant Knowledge and Skill requirements:

Learn and apply precision measurement techniques to ensure accurate assembly.
Collaborate with experienced fitters to understand and interpret technical drawings and diagrams. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
Follow all relevant health and safety regulations.
Excellent attention to detail to ensure a high level of quality.
A great team player, able to communicate well with other business functions as necessary to complete the role.
Promote good manufacturing working practices at all times
Excellent timekeeping and attendance

Key responsibilities:

Following Manufacturing Work instructions (MWI’s).
Complete Manufacturing and Assembly Build Test Records (MABTR’s).
Testing, fault-finding and diagnostics.
Use of hand tools
Use of mechanical handling equipment
Ensure device history records (DHR) are compiled, completed and maintained during assembly and testing processes
Promote good working practices at all times.
Ensure that workshop H&S guidelines are followed
Responsibility for ensuring all required tooling is calibrated within the identified timeframes
Identify any non-conforming products during inspection, assembly and test processes
Comply will all Quality Management System (QMS) Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)

Training to be provided:

On completion of the apprenticeship, you will have achieved the following qualifications;

· ST0457 etc to be copied from Inst of Apprenticeships Standard

· Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Level 3 Diploma

The final apprenticeship completion certificate will be issued on achievement of the above qualification and successful completion of end point assessment.
