Crewe Concert Band is a thriving community wind band, proudly established in 1982.
Our membership spans a wide range of ages, backgrounds and musical experience. What unites us is a shared love of music, friendship and making a positive contribution to our local community through performance.

As we look ahead to the next chapter in the band's history, we are seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring Musical Director who shares our values and passion for community music-making. We are looking for a someone who can build on our strong foundations, and will not only lead and develop the band musically, but who will become an integral part of our friendly and supportive musical family as we continue our journey together.
Rehearsals take place on Thursday evenings from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at Wistaston Memorial Hall (CW2 8ER). We rehearse throughout most of the year, with short breaks over Christmas and Easter.
Self Employed basis - must be available on Thursday evenings.
Closing date for applications: Friday 31st July at 5pm.
Interviews/Auditions will be held during August/September.
Appointment will be decided by Band vote following conclusion of all candidate auditions.
Responsibilities
- Lead rehearsals and performances
- Plan concert programmes
- Provide guidance on musical interpretation
- Foster a positive, welcoming and relaxed environment
- Communicate effectively with committee and band members to ensure smooth coordination of all activities
Experience
- Proven experience as a Conductor or Musical Director - desirable
- Strong background in music - essential
- Demonstrated ability to lead rehearsals - desirable
- Experience in arranging or composing music - desirable
- Excellent communication, timekeeping and organisational skills - essential
- Prior experience working with a variety of musical genres and performance styles - essential
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a warm and friendly demeanour, and passion for community music-making.
Pay: £20.00-£30.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
