About the role
SpeechWise is an independent Speech and Language Therapy Service based in the North West. We have a warm, innovative team of 22 SALTs and 4 SALT Assistants. We have been providing services to families, schools and organisations within the health/education/care sector since 2012. We are pleased to be expanding our team due to demand for our service.
The successful candidate will work in and around Greater Manchester with both children, young people and young adults with a range of needs including complex learning needs. They will work within education, home and care settings and travel between settings is required, so being a car driver is preferable but not essential.
We are passionate about supporting staff with parenting or caring responsibilities and/or those electing to work part time for any reason, so part time applicants are welcome.

Experienced SALT (3- 5 years) 5 days pw Term Time Only: £30,844.26
Recently Qualified SALT (1-3 years) 5 days pw Term Time Only: £26,801.99

About SpeechWise
SpeechWise provide regular Speech and Language Therapy services into schools (commissioned by both schools and Local Authorities) as well as 1:1 clients and some health/care settings. We believe in supporting our SALTs well to ensure they feel happy and fulfilled in their work. The majority of our work is based within schools on a weekly basis so that we can become an integral part of the school team to really make an impact. We also have a 1:1s arm of the service that provides support for individuals in the home or education setting on behalf of a family, Local Authority or school.
Within our service for schools/organisations work together with each setting to make a bespoke service that fits their needs and allows our SALTs to develop each service according to the needs they see. We aim to work with them to support their Universal, Targeted and Specialist offer. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to provide direct therapy, training, group work, support schools to develop TA-led interventions and much more. We also provide assessments, reports and programmes. We have a comprehensive training offer for schools and other organisations including both live training courses and our On-Demand Training Hub.
Our SALTs enjoy the creativity of the role and the chance to really become integrated within each setting to make a difference. We have been working in many of our settings for a number of years and most of our new business comes from recommendations. The majority of our work is primary school-based, although we do also provide a number of secondary school and special school services.
We will provide you with protected supervision time, an experienced team to call on for support and expertise, equipment and regular CPD. There are opportunities for career development; working on service development projects and supervising other members of the team. We believe in a good work-life balance; that wellbeing and time for home life is crucial. Our ethos has always been to find good therapists, look after them well and the rest falls into place.
Roles and responsibilities:
- maintain registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
- Individual assessments (formal and informal), analysis of results and other written information, whole class screening
- Direct and indirect therapy; individual and/or group with school staff/parents if applicable
- Completion of written case notes, reports, programmes, recommendations and other written information in adherence to the Company guidelines/standards
- Caseload management and prioritisation in discussion with the Customer
- Attendance at and/or organisation of meetings to discuss individual patients
- Provision of training, both formal and informal as required by the Customer or Company
- Adherence to any relevant policies and procedures belonging to the Company and/or to the Customer
- Attendance at Company staff meetings
- Provision of activity and/or assessment and intervention data for feedback to schools on the impact of service provision
- Engaging in clinical supervision to support your own practice – an average of 0.5 hours paid supervision per week TTO
- Supervision of other SLTs at the discretion of the Company
