NPD Technologist - Due to our continued growth and success we are looking for an NPD Technologist to join our New Product Development team in our Head Office, Wrexham (LL13 9UG). The hours of work for this role are Monday to Friday 08:00hrs to 17:00hrs

What would you be doing?
Our Vision as a business is to be the “Go-to” supplier of bakery products, working nationally with retailers such as M&S and Waitrose on their premium private label range and regionally through the Village Bakery brand. In achieving this vision, we want to be recognised as a family business that continually invests in the future through the development of our people, quality and food safety culture, equipment and processes.
As an NPD Technologist you will be directly contributing to this vision through your core tasks and responsibilities these will include, but are not limited to:
- Supports the NPD team in the development of new and existing products from concept through to launch
- Assists with the preparation, organisation and execution of kitchen and factory trials
- Works alongside Senior NPD Technologists and Managers to ensure products are developed in line with customer and business requirements
- Accurately records trial data, formulations, process details and outcomes
- Supports the completion and management of product specifications in collaboration with the Specifications Technologist
- Prepares samples for internal reviews, customer submissions and benchmarking exercises
- Assists with raw material assessments, including sourcing, handling and evaluation during development
- Liaises with Production and Technical teams during trials to ensure smooth product handover into manufacturing
- Supports project timelines by completing allocated tasks within agreed deadlines
- Maintains organised and up-to-date documentation for all development activities
- Ensures all activities are carried out in line with food safety, quality and GMP standards
- Participates in product benchmarking, shelf-life assessments and continuous improvement activities
- Communicates effectively with the wider NPD and cross-functional teams on progress and outcomes
- Supports general NPD team activities, including administration, preparation work and clean-down following trials
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge within food manufacturing and product development
What skills and qualifications would you need?
To be a successful NPD Technologist you will need to demonstrate the following skills, qualifications and attributes:
Essential
- Demonstrable experience within NPD
- Food related degree
- You will be a strong & confident communicator who is proactive and highly organised.
- Excellent project management skills
- Strong self-drive and diligent mindset, with good attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise workload against demand from multiple customers and projects
- Computer literate in all aspects of Microsoft Office
- Conversant with retailer Codes of Practice and Policies desirable M&S, Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury's, CO-OP, Morrisons, Lidl.
Desirable
- Bakery sector experience
- HACCP and Food Safety L2
- Food Hygiene Qualified
