ABOUT THE NANTWICH CLINIC
The Nantwich Clinic is an independent, multi-specialty private health and aesthetics clinic operating from Stapeley, Nantwich. We provide premium, results-driven care across Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation, Podiatry, Audiology, Private GP Services, Aesthetics, and Wellness.
We are not a volume clinic. We build long-term patient relationships through clinical excellence, structured care pathways, and an unwavering commitment to outcomes. Every service we offer is designed to restore function, build resilience, or enhance how patients look and feel. Our clinical team is central to delivering that promise.
This is a commercially meaningful leadership role. The right person will not only deliver outstanding clinical care. They will build a department, lead a team, and drive real growth.
THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced, senior physiotherapist who is ready to step into a genuine leadership position: not just as a clinician, but as a department head with commercial ownership of the rehabilitation service.
You will be clinically excellent, commercially aware, and confident leading a team. You will design and oversee patient journeys, manage a shared caseload alongside your direct reports, drive departmental KPIs, and contribute to the clinic's continued growth. You will be the person who sets the standard, clinically, operationally, and culturally, for the rehab team.
This role suits someone who is frustrated by the limitations of standard NHS or single-service private practice, and who wants the autonomy and resource to do genuinely excellent work at scale.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
CLINICAL LEADERSHIP
- Lead the physiotherapy and rehabilitation department, setting the clinical standard and ensuring consistent, high-quality patient care across all clinicians
- Carry your own patient caseload, including complex and high-value cases, and actively share and co-manage caseloads with direct reports
- Design, review, and refine combination therapy treatment plans, integrating Rehabilitation, Shockwave (ESWT), Class IV Laser, SIS, Deep Tissue Massage, Acupuncture, and other available modalities
- Ensure every patient has a clearly structured, staged recovery journey from initial assessment through to discharge or long-term maintenance
- Conduct clinical reviews at defined intervals, adjust treatment plans based on patient progression, and ensure outcomes are documented and tracked
- Maintain full clinical compliance with HCPC standards and the clinic's internal governance framework
TEAM MANAGEMENT
- Directly manage the rehabilitation clinical team, including BASRAT practitioners and any additional support staff within your department
- Lead and chair the weekly clinician meeting, ensuring it is structured, purposeful, and drives clinical improvement and team cohesion
- Oversee and support your team's clinical decision-making, professional development, and performance against agreed KPIs
- Conduct regular one-to-ones with direct reports, providing honest feedback, setting clear expectations, and identifying development opportunities
- Manage and distribute patient caseload equitably across the team, maintaining appropriate utilisation and avoiding clinical bottlenecks
- Onboard new clinicians into the department's standards, systems, and patient journey approach
PATIENT JOURNEY & RETENTION
- Own the patient journey architecture for the rehabilitation department, ensuring patients are never left uncertain about what happens next
- Implement and monitor structured treatment plans, including the clinic's combination therapy protocols, ensuring clinical rationale is communicated clearly to patients
- Drive patient compliance and retention through expectation-setting, regular progress reviews, and structured re-engagement where patients have disengaged
- Collaborate with the wider clinical team on cross-specialty referrals, particularly between Physio, Podiatry, and GP services
- Identify and remove friction points in the patient journey: booking, communication, continuation of care, and onward referral
COMMERCIAL & DEPARTMENTAL GROWTH
- Take ownership of departmental revenue targets and KPIs, including session volume, utilisation rate, average revenue per patient, and patient retention
- Actively support the growth of the department through clinical excellence, patient referrals, and community reputation
- Work with the clinic manager to identify service gaps, new treatment opportunities, and capacity planning needs
- Show up on the clinic's social media: filming short clinical videos, sharing posts to your story, liking and commenting from your own account, and asking happy patients if they would be willing to share their experience on camera. This is not a marketing add-on. It is part of how this clinic grows.
- Represent the department and the clinic professionally in all external interactions, including with referrers and local healthcare professionals
PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL
- Degree-qualified Physiotherapist, registered with the HCPC
- Minimum 5 years post-qualification clinical experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role
- Strong MSK clinical background with demonstrable expertise across injury rehabilitation, sports rehab, and chronic pain management
- Experience designing and delivering multi-modality treatment programmes.
- Proven ability to manage a clinical team, including performance management, workload distribution, and professional development
- Commercially literate and comfortable working to KPIs, owning targets, and understanding the link between clinical delivery and business performance
- Confident communicator, able to explain complex clinical decisions clearly to patients, and to lead a team through direction, not just example
- Organised, systematic, and able to maintain clinical governance standards consistently
- Interest or experience in strength and conditioning, personal training, or gym-based rehabilitation
DESIRABLE
- Experience with or qualification in: Shockwave Therapy (ESWT), Class IV Laser, Super Inductive System (SIS), or Dry Needling/Acupuncture
- Experience working within a private clinic or multi-specialty healthcare environment
- Experience contributing to or creating content for clinical social media or patient education
WHAT WE OFFER
This is not a role we have created for the sake of having a Head of Department. It is a role we need because the clinic is growing and the rehabilitation department requires genuine, experienced leadership to reach its potential.
- A genuine leadership role with real autonomy. You will own the department, not just manage a diary
- A well-equipped clinic with access to market-leading technology: Shockwave, Class IV Laser, SIS, Emsculpt Neo, Emsella, and more
- A multi-specialty environment where collaboration with GP, Podiatry, Audiology, and Aesthetics is part of daily practice
- A brand and culture built on premium positioning. We are not competing on price, and neither is your practice
- Competitive salary with a clear performance framework and scope for financial progression tied to departmental results
- Support for CPD and specialist training in clinic technologies
- A small, motivated team that values outcome, precision, and doing the job properly
