Full job description

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Delivery Driver to join our established family business. You will be responsible for multi-drop deliveries of coal products throughout Staffordshire and Cheshire, ensuring excellent customer service while managing your own delivery routes efficiently. The other side to the role is to deliver some landscaping products through the summer months. We have a yard based in Congleton which candidates must be happy to travel to during certain periods of the year.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Operations:

Conduct multi-drop deliveries of 50kg coal sacks across Staffordshire and Cheshire
Plan and manage daily delivery routes to maximise efficiency
Load and unload coal sacks safely, following manual handling procedures
Ensure accurate delivery of orders and obtain customer signatures

Customer Service:

Provide friendly, professional service to all customers
Handle customer queries and concerns professionally on-site
Build and maintain positive customer relationships
Represent the company professionally at all times

Administrative Duties:

Handle cash payments and provide accurate change
Complete delivery documentation and maintain accurate records
Report any delivery issues or customer feedback to management
Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and maintain delivery logs

Essential Requirements

Experience & Skills:

For insurance purposes you must meet the below two requirements:

- Be over the age of 21

- 2 years minimum Full UK driving licence with clean record

Previous delivery driving experience preferred
Strong customer service skills
Excellent cash handling abilities
Good organisational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and manage own workload
Must be happy to travel to Congleton and Crewe depending on work requirements

Physical Requirements:

Physically fit and able to lift 50kg sacks repeatedly
Comfortable with manual handling in all weather conditions
Good level of physical stamina for full-day deliveries

Reliable and punctual
Professional appearance and manner
Strong communication skills
Problem-solving abilities
Trustworthy with cash handling responsibilities

The usual hours for this job are 07:00-17:00 Monday to Friday, as with all driving jobs, earlier starts and later finishes are to be expected. This vacancy is based in Crewe Cheshire
