Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Calibration Technician to join our team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. This entry-level role offers an exciting opportunity to develop technical skills in calibration and maintenance of precision instruments within a laboratory environment. As a Trainee Calibration Technician, you will support the calibration and troubleshooting of equipment, ensuring compliance with quality standards and technical specifications. This position is ideal for individuals eager to build a career in a technical environment, while gaining hands-on experience in calibration processes. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate.

Responsibilities

Assist in the calibration of various measurement and testing instruments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards
Support senior technicians in maintaining calibration records, schedules, and documentation using schematics and technical drawings
Conduct routine maintenance checks on calibration equipment and related machinery to ensure optimal performance
Participate in testing procedures, recording measurements, and verifying instrument accuracy against reference standards
Collaborate with team members to identify calibration discrepancies and assist in corrective actions
Provide excellent customer service by supporting internal teams with technical inquiries and equipment support

Experience

Basic understanding of technical principles gained through education or previous work experience
Hands-on experience with maintenance tasks or calibration activities is a plus but not mandatory for entry-level candidates
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately
Excellent communication skills, demonstrating a proactive approach to learning and teamwork
Customer service orientation with a positive attitude towards supporting colleagues and internal clients

Although this is a fixed-term maternity cover position term (minimum 3 months, maximum 9 months), there may be the opportunity for a permanent role in the future, subject to business needs and individual performance.
