About Us
Movement Referrals (Cheshire) is an independent provider of specialist veterinary services in small animal orthopaedics, neurosurgery and neurology. Established in May 2023, we operate from our purpose-built facility in Preston Brook, near Runcorn, serving practices and patients throughout the North West of England and beyond.
Due to continued growth and increasing caseload, we are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our expanding team.
Our clinical team comprises four Specialist/advanced practitioner Orthopaedic Surgeons and two Specialist Neurologists. Supporting them is an exceptional nursing team of eleven Registered Veterinary Nurses, one second year student nurse, four Animal Care Assistants and a dedicated Theatre Technician. Our nurses are central to delivering the highest standards of patient care and client service, and we are looking for individuals who share our commitment to clinical excellence.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a passion for referral nursing to develop their skills within a specialist environment. You will play a vital role in supporting the diagnosis, treatment and recovery of complex orthopaedic and neurological cases.
Working closely with our multidisciplinary team, you will be involved in all aspects of patient care, from admission through to discharge, ensuring that every patient receives outstanding care throughout their journey with us.
The Salary
We implement a “banding structure” where nurses are remunerated based on their clinical competencies, and their contributions to the practice through administrative tasks, teamwork and leadership. Starting at £30,000 pa rising to over £40,000pa for full-time. Paid breaks are included. New starters will be appointed a provisional band at the time of job offer, and this will be reviewed pending successful completion of a six-month probationary period.
Key Responsibilities
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with the management of referred orthopaedic and neurological cases.
- Providing high standards of nursing care to hospitalised patients, including monitoring, treatment administration and patient comfort.
- Supporting anaesthesia for a wide range of specialist surgical and diagnostic procedures.
- Assisting with advanced diagnostic imaging, including MRI, CT and radiography.
- Preparing for and assisting during orthopaedic and neurosurgical procedures.
- Monitoring patients throughout the perioperative period and contributing to their postoperative recovery.
- Admitting and discharging patients, ensuring a smooth and compassionate client experience.
- Communicating effectively with clients regarding procedures performed, ongoing care plans, medications and discharge instructions.
- Maintaining accurate clinical records and adhering to practice protocols and professional standards.
- Contributing positively to a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement and exceptional patient outcomes.
About You
We are looking for candidates who:
- Are qualified and registered with the RCVS as a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a minimum of 2 years experience.
- Have excellent nursing and communication skills.
- Demonstrate compassion and a strong commitment to patient welfare.
- Thrive in a busy referral environment and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Are organised, adaptable and keen to develop professionally.
- Previous experience within a referral setting is advantageous but not essential, as full support and training will be provided for the right candidates.
