Lewis Pies are a family-owned company who have been making pastries, breads and cakes since 1936. We have an exciting opportunity for a Packing Operative to join our team at our Fforestfach site in Swansea.
Packing Operatives play a vital role in ensuring our products are packed safely, accurately, and to the high standards our customers expect. The role involves working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and customer requirements are consistently met.
Responsibilities of our Packing Operatives include:
- Hand packing and wrapping products to agreed specifications and quality standards
- Box making, pallet building, transferring stock, and preparing products for dispatch
- Hand labelling, watchstrap labelling, tempering, and product re-coding
- Operating packaging equipment, including the box machine and the flow-wrapper machine
- Order picking and preparing products for delivery vehicles
- Packaging control, including stock counting and ordering of packaging materials
- Accurate completion of production records and live documentation
- Maintaining Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and carrying out cleaning duties
- Working safely within Health & Safety procedures and food safety requirements
- Being audit-ready at all times
- Promoting a Clean As You Go (CAYG) attitude throughout the shift
- Working efficiently against agreed packing and production targets
- Supporting other departments as required to meet the needs of the business
- Working in chilled and freezer environments (all PPE provided)
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Ability to reliably commute to site
- Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain high quality standards
- The ability to complete paperwork and use our in-house systems accurately and efficiently
- A strong awareness of Health & Safety and Food Safety requirements
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- The ability to work independently and use their own initiative
- A flexible approach to work and changing business requirements
- Physical capability to undertake manual handling activities when required
Experience working within a factory or manufacturing environment is essential. Food manufacturing experience would be advantageous.
