Construction Tutor (Level 1 Construction, Health & Safety & CITB/CSCS Programme)
Pay: £25.00–£30.00 per hour

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Tutor to deliver an intensive, fast-track construction programme designed to equip learners with the knowledge, skills and qualifications needed to progress into employment within the construction industry.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and assessing:
- Level 1 Award/Certificate in Construction Skills
- Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment
- CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test preparation, supporting learners to achieve their CSCS Labourer Card
You will deliver engaging, learner-focused sessions that develop practical skills, employability, confidence and progression into further training, apprenticeships or employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality teaching sessions for accredited construction programmes.
- Deliver the Level 1 Construction qualification, Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment, and CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test preparation leading to the CSCS Labourer Card.
- Produce and maintain schemes of work, lesson plans and teaching resources that meet awarding body requirements and reflect learners' individual needs.
- Monitor learner progress through regular assessment, reviews and constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate and timely learner documentation, including:
- Attendance records
- Learner reviews
- Individual learning plans and action plans
- Assessment records
- Awarding body and contractual paperwork
- Deliver engaging and inclusive learning that motivates learners and promotes excellent attendance, retention and achievement.
- Prepare learners for progression into employment, apprenticeships or further education.
- Embed English, Maths and employability skills throughout the construction programme.
- Integrate safeguarding, Prevent, British Values, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, and Health & Safety into all aspects of delivery.
- Provide appropriate learner support, including identifying and responding to additional learning and social support needs.
- Contribute to internal quality assurance activities and comply with awarding body requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date occupational competence and participate in continuous professional development.
Essential Requirements
- Recognised teaching qualification (Award in Education and Training, PTLLS, or equivalent).
- GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or Functional Skills Level 2) in English and Maths.
- Proven occupational experience within the construction industry.
- Experience delivering accredited construction training programmes.
- Experience preparing learners for the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test and supporting achievement of the CSCS Labourer Card.
- Strong understanding of construction health and safety legislation and best practice.
- Excellent communication, organisation and classroom management skills.
- Ability to motivate learners from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Flexible, proactive and learner-centred approach.
Desirable
- Assessing qualification (TAQA, A1 or equivalent).
- IQA qualification.
- Experience delivering roll-on/roll-off programmes.
- Experience working with unemployed learners or adults returning to education.
Essential Criteria
- Full UK driving licence.
- Access to your own vehicle with business insurance.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
