We are looking for Volunteer Police Chaplains to support Officers and Staff at the Civil Nuclear Constabulary at our Headquarters sites (currently based in Culham, Oxfordshire, with a relocation to Harwell, Oxfordshire in Autumn 2026). In this volunteer role you’ll provide impartial, confidential, spiritual and pastoral support to Officers and Staff, regardless of their faith or belief, by listening to their needs and offering a source of support. You’ll do this by building relationships of acceptance, friendship and trust with Officers and Staff.
You’ll need to be a good listener and have the confidence to initiate conversations with our Staff and Officers to build relationships and provide impartial and confidential (where appropriate) pastoral support to them and their families to support wellbeing. You’ll also need to have an ability to remain calm and understanding of pressures in various situations, and to manage legal and ethical boundaries.
To join us as a Volunteer Chaplain you’ll need to already have significant involvement within a faith or belief organisation with experience of working with people. We’d expect you to be on site as part of the role so you’ll need to reside within the local area.

As a volunteer within the police service you will be subjected to a level of police vetting in order to be successfully appointed. You may be asked to provide details of family members, partner, partner’s parents and co-residents, as well as additional information regarding their own personal circumstances. This process is required to ensure that the Civil Nuclear Constabulary comply with legislation and the sensitivity of our sites.
