HR Coordinator
Location: Herstmonceux Castle, East Sussex
Hours: 22.5 hours per week (3 days)
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Up to £16.50 per hour
We're looking for an experienced HR Coordinator to join our small HR team based at Herstmonceux Castle.
Working closely with the Head of HR, you'll play an important role in supporting the delivery of a professional, responsive and effective HR service across the organisation.
This is a varied role offering exposure to recruitment, onboarding, employee lifecycle administration, HR systems, research and employee communications. You'll act as a first point of contact for routine HR process enquiries.
The successful candidate will be organised, adaptable and confident using their initiative. Most importantly, they'll be someone who can be trusted to handle sensitive information with discretion, build positive working relationships and use sound judgement, knowing when to work independently and when to seek guidance or escalate matters where appropriate.
While a good understanding of core HR practices is important, we don't expect the successful candidate to have all the answers from day one. This role will suit someone who is keen to learn, takes ownership of their work and is confident seeking support when needed.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting recruitment activities, including advertising vacancies, coordinating interviews and onboarding new starters.
- Coordinating employee lifecycle administration, ensuring documentation, compliance requirements and employee records are maintained accurately and confidentially.
- Supporting induction, training and development activities and helping to create a positive experience for new and existing employees.
- Acting as a first point of contact for routine HR queries and providing guidance on HR processes and documentation.
- Supporting managers with HR administration and helping to ensure a fair and consistent approach to employee matters.
- Taking an active role in maintaining the HR system, ensuring data accuracy, supporting colleagues with system-related queries and helping to promote effective use of the system across the organisation.
- Conduct market and employment law research to support decision-making and HR initiatives.
- Coordinating HR meetings, activities and communications.
- Supporting the Head of HR through effective planning, organisation and follow-up, helping to provide a strong operational foundation for the wider HR function.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience within an HR administration, HR assistant, HR coordinator or similar HR support role.
- Experience using HR systems and maintaining accurate employee records.
- A good understanding of core HR processes and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence communicating with colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
- The ability to manage confidential information with discretion, integrity and professionalism.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A practical and adaptable approach to work.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
Desirable
- CIPD Level 3 qualification or currently working towards it.
- Experience supporting organisational initiatives, projects or process improvements.
- Experience within education, hospitality, events, visitor attractions or a similar environment.
