Purpose of the Role
To drive revenue growth by developing and managing wholesale, trade, and commercial accounts, while identifying new market opportunities for Ruby UK products. The role is also responsible for overseeing show site partnerships, building strong customer relationships, and leading a small team of sales representatives to achieve sales targets and support the company's growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities Business Development
- Identify and secure new repeat B2B customers including landscapers, builders, merchants, developers, garden centres, pubs, schools, hotels and trade distributors.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospective customers.
- Build strategic partnerships that increase sales.
Wholesale Account Management
- Manage existing wholesale and trade accounts.
- Negotiate pricing, supply agreements, and commercial terms.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and account retention.
- Monitor account performance and identify opportunities for growth.
Show Site Management
- Recruit and manage display locations and show sites throughout the UK.
- Maintain relationships with show site partners.
- Ensure displays are kept to a high standard and represent the Ruby UK brand effectively.
- Develop promotional activities to maximise lead generation from show sites.
Sales Strategy
- Assist in developing and implementing sales strategies to achieve company targets.
- Analyse market trends, and customer demand.
- Identify new product and market opportunities.
- Provide regular sales forecasts and reports to management.
Customer Relationship Management
- Maintain accurate records within the CRM system.
- Follow up leads and enquiries promptly.
- Coordinate with operations and production teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Monthly and annual sales revenue achieved.
- Gross profit generated.
- New B2B accounts opened.
- Number of active wholesale partners.
- Number of active show sites secured.
- Lead conversion rate.
- Customer retention rate.
- New market opportunities identified and implemented.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in B2B sales and growing revenue, business development, or account management.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Experience within construction, timber, landscaping, garden products, or building materials sectors preferred.
- Ability to work independently and manage a sales pipeline, while clearly reporting to management
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Full UK driving licence.

Typically:
- Base Salary: £40,000 – £70,000
