Purpose of the role
Support the delivery of fire door and fire-stopping surveys and remedial works, while assisting with quotations, materials/stock control, and project administration. This hybrid role mixes site visits with office (home)-based work.
You’ll receive structured training and a clear development pathway, gaining full end-to-end experience—from handling enquiries and coordinating works to completion and handover. For the right person, there’s no limit to how far you can progress.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct fire door surveys to a competent standard (condition, compliance, gaps, ironmongery, signage, seals) and produce clear survey reports with photos.
- Prepare itemised quotations for fire door repairs/replacements and fire-stopping works.
- Carry out works to fire doors and fire-stopping under supervision and company procedures.
- Manage van and warehouse stock: order materials, book in/out, maintain minimum levels, and keep records up to date.
- Attend regular site visits to check progress, capture as-built photos, update asset registers, and close out snags.
- Support the business with administration duties: scheduling, RAMS packs, O&M handovers, collating certificates, updating trackers.
- Use our operating system to log surveys, create quotes, and update job statuses.
- Follow company Quality, health & safety, and compliance procedures (RRO 2005, BS 8214, BS EN 1634/BS 476, BS 9999, manufacturer guidance).
- Work professionally with customers, building managers, and occupants; represent the company on site.
Candidate profile
- Practical, hands-on and detail-driven
- Good written communication for reports/quotes.
- Organised and reliable; able to plan routes, manage time, and keep tidy records.
- Positive attitude to learning; comfortable receiving feedback and building competence quickly.
Essential requirements
- Basic tool competence and willingness to carry out remedial works on fire safety equipment.
- Positive, can-do attitude; eager to learn and build a long-term career in the fire safety industry.
- DBS clearance (or willing to obtain) for sensitive sites.
Desirable (training will be provided)
- Any exposure to carpentry/joinery, facilities, or building maintenance.
- CSCS card; Asbestos Awareness; Manual Handling; Working at Height; Ladder Safety.
Working pattern & benefits
