We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Transport Planner to join a fast-paced transport operation where compliance, structure, and professionalism are at the heart of everything we do.
This is not a “bums on seats” planning role. We are looking for someone who understands the real pressures of transport operations while maintaining control, communication, and professionalism throughout the day.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, drivers, customers, and compliance functions to ensure the operation runs efficiently, legally, and calmly under pressure.

Key Responsibilities
- Planning and coordinating daily vehicle movements efficiently
- Managing driver schedules and route allocation
- Maintaining effective communication with drivers and customers
- Monitoring vehicle availability and operational requirements
- Supporting compliance with Drivers’ Hours, Working Time, and Operator Licence obligations
- Reacting effectively to operational issues while maintaining composure and control
- Liaising with workshop/compliance teams regarding defects, maintenance, and vehicle availability
- Ensuring all work is planned in a commercially efficient and legally compliant manner
- Assisting in the continual improvement of operational systems and processes
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Previous experience in a Transport Planner role
- Strong geographical knowledge
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure without creating pressure
- Good understanding of transport compliance and Drivers’ Hours rules
- Experience using transport planning systems
- Professional and solution-focused mindset
- Strong attention to detail
Desirable:
- Experience within HGV operations
- Knowledge of FORS / DVSA compliance expectations
- Understanding of vehicle maintenance planning
- Experience working alongside compliance or transport management functions
