WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
This is an amazing opportunity for you to start your career in CNC Machining. As a Trainee Machinist in the Under Seat Rocket Motor Cell, you will gain practical experience and focused training within a leading manufacturing organisation. The initial training period of six months will be based in Denham, Buckinghamshire and rotated across various manufacturing cells, supported by our dedicated training specialists to encourage your learning and development. We offer you the chance to work alongside experts who can help you to obtain a wide understanding of an engineering business whilst developing new skills and gain a strong industry experience
The first six months of employment will involve working 08:00 - 17:00 Monday to Thursday and 08:00 - 12:00 on Friday, this will be regarded as the initial training period. Following the successful completion of your training you will progress to the next phase of the program, working across various machining centres.
Training Elements
- Phase 1 – Building an understanding of manufacturing and inspection methods.
- Phase 2 – Introduction to manual machines (lathes and milling machines) and basic CNC machines. You will learn to set and operate these machines with mentor assistance.
- Phase 3 – Introduction to full CNC milling machines, lathes, mill turns and pallet-loaded manufacturing systems. First with mentor assistance, then eventually unassisted as well as becoming competent to self-inspect your own work.
WHAT WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO BRING
- Basic PC skills i.e. (Microsoft Office)
- Good standard level of education e.g. GCSE Math, English and Physics
- Team player with the ability to work independently.
- Effective communication skills.
- An interest and enthusiasm for Manufacturing and/or Engineering.
- Practical problem-solving skills.
- An engineering NVQ or Degree would be desirable.
