Senior Children's Residential Support Worker - Cullompton, Devon

£37,698 per annum. Full time hours - 40 per week. Shifts & Sleep-ins: 3 per week on average. Part time hours - 30 per week.

Please note: be aged 23 or over and hold a full UK driving licence (Company car provided)

As a Senior Children's Residential Support Worker, you'll play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing and inspiring home where young people can thrive.

Alongside providing outstanding care, you'll lead by example, support and develop colleagues, and help ensure the home consistently delivers the highest standards of care and safeguarding.

This is the perfect opportunity for someone ready to take the next step in their residential childcare career while continuing to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people.

The role

You'll continue to build meaningful relationships with young people, supporting them through every aspect of daily life while helping them develop confidence, resilience and independence.

Alongside this, you'll provide guidance to the wider team, helping to maintain a positive, supportive and therapeutic environment where everyone can flourish.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting our young people

Building positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
Planning meaningful activities, days out and experiences based on individual interests.
Supporting school attendance, appointments, clubs and daily routines.
Encouraging independence and developing essential life skills.
Contributing to care planning, reviews and young people's individual targets.
Acting as a strong advocate for every young person.
Maintaining a safe, welcoming and homely environment.
Safeguarding children and promoting their welfare at all times.

Leading and supporting the team

Leading shifts and setting a positive example.
Conducting staff supervisions, probation reviews and annual appraisals.
Supporting colleagues with their learning, development and professional growth.
Encouraging reflective practice and promoting continuous improvement.
Providing coaching, guidance and constructive challenge where appropriate.
Helping to create a positive, supportive team culture.

Maintaining high standards

You'll help ensure the home consistently meets the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted expectations by:
Reviewing and updating care plans, risk assessments and missing from home documentation.
Completing safeguarding records and incident debriefs.
Maintaining household health and safety documentation.
Monitoring the quality of care and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Ensuring policies relating to safeguarding, equality, diversity, health and safety and child protection are always followed.

About you

We're looking for someone who combines compassion with confidence.

You'll be passionate about achieving the very best outcomes for young people while supporting others to deliver outstanding care.

You'll have:

Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce (or equivalent).
At least one year's experience working within a children's residential home.
Previous supervisory or senior support worker experience.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding and children's residential care.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
The ability to remain calm, organised and resilient.
A full UK driving licence.
