We are currently recruiting for a full time Parts Supervisor to join our Engineering team in Glasgow. This is a key role supporting the smooth and efficient running of the parts and stores function for West Coast Motors, ensuring that parts, tooling and PPE are available when needed to keep our fleet operating safely and reliably.
The Parts Supervisor will be responsible for:
- The day-to-day running of the parts and stores department
- Managing general enquiries relating to stores, parts, tooling and PPE
- Maintaining a clean, safe, well-organised and efficient stockroom environment
- Receiving, unpacking and inspecting incoming deliveries, ensuring goods are checked and recorded accurately
- Managing purchasing, ordering and stock control processes for the stores function
- Monitoring and processing the stores mailbox on a daily basis
- Liaising with suppliers, managers and the Engineering team regarding parts availability, lead times and delivery updates
- Supporting the finance department with the purchase process from start to finish, including purchase orders, delivery notes and invoices
- Creating, maintaining and improving stores filing and record-keeping systems
- Dealing professionally with correspondence, queries and complaints relating to the stores function
- Identifying opportunities to improve stock accuracy, availability and stores processes
- Carrying out any other duties as required by the Engineering Manager or Engineering Supervisor
Key competencies and experience
- Previous experience in a stores, stock control, parts, warehouse or similar environment
- Experience in a supervisory or coordinating role would be advantageous
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and manage competing demands
- A keen eye for detail and a high level of accuracy when handling stock, orders and records
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues, managers and suppliers
- Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel
- Able to work independently while also supporting the wider Engineering team
- A positive, proactive approach and a willingness to improve processes
- Knowledge of vehicle, engineering or automotive parts would be desirable
- A forklift licence would be desirable
The role is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, with flexibility to cover additional hours where required.
