At Mountbatten, music is more than a comfort—it is connection, community and joy. We support individuals and families through some of life’s most difficult moments, and our choir has become a cherished part of that care. We are now seeking a Hospice Choir Lead to inspire and nurture this unique musical community.

Through your enthusiasm, you’ll help build a supportive choir with a shared purpose, working towards performances at hospice events to help raise vital funds for patient care.

This role is ideal for someone with good musical ability, strong communication skills and emotional resilience, who enjoys being part of a team and acting as an ambassador for Mountbatten.

The Role

Through the power of music you will bring our choir together to create moments of joy and connection across the hospice. You will carefully select songs and confidently guide the group, in a way that brings people together and builds a sense of shared purpose.

Your enthusiasm for leading inclusive, enjoyable rehearsals will help staff and volunteers feel uplifted and connected, regardless of their musical experience.

Wellbeing is at the heart of the choir, and through rehearsing we aim to get to a level where we can perform at hospice events and raise vital funds to support patient care.

You will:

Lead weekly rehearsals — adapting to the needs, abilities, and energy levels of participants.
Arrange suitable music — from uplifting classics to gentle reflective pieces.
Foster a strong sense of community and teamwork within the choir.
Prepare occasional informal performances — for seasonal events, remembrance services, or family gatherings.
Be an ambassador for Mountbatten, upholding our values.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings both musical skill and emotional intelligence. You will be:

A confident choral leader with experience directing mixed‑ability groups.
Compassionate, patient, and able to hold space for people experiencing grief, illness, or vulnerability.
Skilled at adapting arrangements and rehearsals to suit fluctuating health needs.
Comfortable working in a hospice environment and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Someone who believes deeply in the power of music to heal, soothe, and connect.
