Full job description

Due to incresaed patient numbers we are looking for a hardworking, motivated, positive individual to join our friendly team at Church View Medical Centre. The role is around 20-30 hours across 5 days Monday – Friday. Hours to be confirmed at interview.

Working in a small team

As a member of the reception team, you will be the first point of contact for the patients visiting or telephoning the Practice. You will need to display a courteous manner, good communication and IT/keyboard skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively under pressure, adapt quickly to respond to multiple demands and work well as part of a team.

Job Description

Reception & Secretary Duties

-Opening/closing the premises

-Receiving and directing patients on arrival, in courteous and efficient manner

-Answering general enquiries at the reception desk and by telephone, explaining surgery procedures, making new and follow-up appointments

-Using EMIS web and multiple IT systems.

-Filing and extracting medical records, hospital reports and letters and any other related documents and coding with the relevant codes. Receiving, recording, and passing on any messages from all members of the practice and accurate requests for home visits. Reply to and sending emails and actioning tasks received from clinical staff.

-Deal with new patient registrations and temporary resident registrations and deductions of patients

-Ensuring the reception area is left tidy and ready for use by incoming colleagues, together with information about urgent and unresolved matters.

-To help the Practice maintain accurate and up-to-date patient information

-To participate in appropriate meetings

-To deal with private work including Insurance Claims and Access to Health Records if required

- To type referrals letters including private referrals

- To make appointments, attach referrals though the Electronic Booking System (e-RS) and deal with enquiries within e-RS

-Use C-The Signs to record all Two Week Waits and Cancer Diagnoses

-To provide cover in the absence of other members of staff including holiday and sick leave.

-Any other duties assigned by the Partners, Practice Managers

- Offering administrative help to the office manager
