The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Research Assistant to join our Technical team.
Reporting directly to the Technical Manager, the purpose of the role is to produce materials for customer consideration and the support of research and development of new and existing projects. Additionally the role covers the support of data management through the Technical department.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and dispatch of customer samples for initial consideration
- Conduct testing and analysis of new and existing products and processes to support project and customer development
- Support the management of information on new and ongoing projects and production trials
- Assist with the maintenance of the technical database as part of GTS advanced product quality planning stage gating process
- Maintain stock management within the laboratory and technical production materials
- Assisting with production trials including but not limited to quality control testing of development materials
- Support the creation of development and standard costings
- Maintain laboratory safety including but not limited to the proper use of PPE, following safe working practice and appropriate waste disposal
Any other reasonable duties deemed necessary within the scope of role as directed by Technical Co-ordinator and Technical Manager
About You
To be considered for this position, you will have the following.
- Proven familiarity with lab testing processes including awareness of how to set up experimental procedures, data recording, sample handling and preparation and analysis of results
- Data management and organisational experience on project-based work
- A working knowledge of safe working practice within a chemical laboratory environment including COSHH and risk assessments
- Experience using analytical instruments and techniques
- High attention to detail for technical results and documentation
- Experience writing laboratory reports and presentation of results within a technical team

You will be:
- Educated to degree level within a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access)
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks
Desirable skills / attributes
- Industrial laboratory experience
- Data management experience within an industrial organisation
