The Role
An experienced individual is required as a Fish & Chip Fryer and Pizza Maker for a new business about to launch in Colvend. Scoffers will be offering a traditional fish & chips menu, with some modern twists, for customers to sit in and take away. Fresh fish will be sourced and expert fryers will be on site pre launch to ensure the highest standards of excellence and consistency are built in across the team, from the outset. The Business Owners have high expectations for this new business and will therefore support the successful candidate to achieve excellence together. Once the core business is established, there are plans to widen the menu and offer additional services to customers, so the business will evolve. The role will report to the Head Chef.
Key tasks will include:
- Preparation of ingredients
- Cooking all dishes to the highest standards
- Support Chef with stock management, ordering and supplies
- Cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen equipment
- Communicating with the Team Leader re daily menu changes
The restaurant hours are 10 am to 8pm, open 7 days a week. This role is full time at 5 days a week and specific hours will be agreed. Weekend working and evening work is essential and seasonal hours may vary. The Business Owners will be flexible where possible for the most appropriate candidate.
A driving licence is essential.
The Person
The ideal candidate will be focussed on excellence in food and customer service. This is a new business and is anticipated to be extremely busy so the candidate must be able to work in a fast paced kitchen environment, adapting to changes while maintaining standards under pressure. You must be a team player and be able to be flexible in work patterns as required. Your communication skills will be strong to build strong working relationships with the Head Chef, Team Leader and the team. There is an opportunity to contribute to menu development in future to keep the food offering fresh, tempting and relevant to the customer base.Experience in a professional kitchen is essential.
The Business
Scoffers will be launching soon and via word of mouth and social media, the opening is highly anticipated. There are xxx tables in the restaurant and the take away side of the business is expected to be very popular. The menu will offer traditional suppers, and pizzas but will also include modern twists and flavours. The ambience the Business Owners want to create is relaxed, modern and welcoming where customers return regularly so that the business earns a reputation for high quality consistently fresh value for money meals.

The Ark, Kippford is one of 3 local businesses managed by the Business Owners family. The Ark, Kippford is the most established, having operated for over 2 years. Caddie’s Cove at Colvend Golf Club is the 2nd and latest business to open, and the restaurant is performing well for golfers, the general public aswell as larger scale events. The next business which will launch soon is Scoffers Fish & Chip restaurant and take away at Colvend. The family are focussed on developing each of these local businesses to their full potential, and this is why this new role is required.
