Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Yardman to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the yard area, assisting with deliveries, and supporting warehouse operations. This role requires a proactive individual with strong communication skills and the ability to handle physical tasks efficiently. Previous experience in delivery driving, commercial driving, or warehouse work is highly desirable. The Yardman will play a vital role in ensuring smooth logistics and organisation within the yard environment.
Duties
- Operate delivery vehicles, ensuring safe and timely transportation of goods
- Assist with loading and unloading lorries, requiring heavy lifting and manual handling
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the yard area to promote safety and efficiency
- Support warehouse staff with inventory management and stock movement
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding delivery schedules and yard operations
- Conduct routine vehicle checks and report any maintenance issues promptly
- Assist in general yard duties such as securing equipment and ensuring safety protocols are followed
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in commercial driving roles
- Previous warehouse experience is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and clients
- Valid driving licence suitable for commercial vehicles, including <PERSON> driver qualifications if applicable
- Good organisational skills with an eye for detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
