Technical Support Engineer

Company: South West Systems

Location: South West / UK Coverage

Position Type: 12-Month Fixed Term (Potential for Permanent)

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Flexibility required; out-of-hours rota applies)

Salary: £25,800 per annum (Depending on experience, with post-probation and annual reviews)

South West Systems is a rapidly growing, independent, family-run provider of Point of Sale (POS) equipment, cloud solutions, card payment technology, and commercial software. We partner with industry leaders including ICR Touch, Dojo, Avery Berkel, and Casio to support clients across the UK.

We are seeking a tech-savvy, customer-focused Technical Support Engineer to join our close-knit team. This role offers comprehensive training and excellent long-term career progression for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Deployment: Deliver and install hardware and software solutions at customer sites.
Technical Support: Resolve customer issues via phone, email, remote access, or on-site visits.
On-Site Calibration: Perform commercial weighing scale calibrations (primarily in the South West).
Training: Deliver software and system training to customers remotely and on-site.
On-Call Support: Participate in an out-of-hours technical support rota.
Sales Support: Handle initial customer enquiries, route leads to the Sales Manager, and conduct software demonstrations.

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

Full UK Driving Licence and access to personal transport (a company vehicle is provided for official travel).
Strong written and verbal communication skills (GCSE-level English and Maths or equivalent).
Excellent customer service skills with a strong attention to detail.
A demonstrable interest in technology, commercial software, and business apps.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team.
Willingness to travel regularly and maintain flexibility for occasional out-of-hours working.

Desirable:

Previous experience in a technical support, IT, or networking role.
Commercial awareness within the retail or hospitality sectors.
