History

Founded in 1987 by a courageous survivor of domestic abuse, our charity originally began as the West Lancashire Women’s Refuge. Our services have developed over the years and we now offer a comprehensive range of services to women, children and men affected by domestic abuse. By providing a safe and supportive environment, we empower survivors to take control of their lives and rebuild their sense of self and well-being. We provide vital support and services to survivors of domestic abuse, as well as raising awareness and promoting education in the community. By focusing on all aspects of domestic abuse we have a wide-ranging impact on the issue and help to create a safer and more supportive environment for all individuals in West Lancashire.

As an independent charity, we remain committed to empowering survivors and fostering a community free from domestic abuse.

Our mission is to build hope and confidence with people affected by domestic abuse to live a future without fear.

What we do

We currently provide the following services:

· 24-hour safe accommodation and support for women and their children

· Resettlement support for families being rehoused

· Outreach support

· Advice and support for males affected by domestic abuse

· Counselling

· Group work programmes

· 24-hour helpline

· Information Centre

· Healthy Relationships Programme

About the role:

This role involves working as part of the Lancashire Connect and Respect Service to deliver a high-quality service to children and young people across a range of settings. It includes collaborating closely with schools, agencies, and other professionals to plan, facilitate, and deliver engaging healthy relationship programmes. The role also requires taking full responsibility for your duties while adhering to organisational policies and procedures, ensuring all work is carried out safely, effectively, and in line with expected standards.

Key Tasks

Maintain accurate, up-to-date written and electronic records of work with children and young people and contribute to the production of monitoring information and statistical returns for funders.
Ensure children and young people are kept safe by following safeguarding procedures and taking appropriate action where concerns arise.
Keep up to date with, and work in accordance with, relevant legislation, guidance and policy relating to children and young people, including safeguarding and child protection requirements.
Work collaboratively to raise awareness among schools, partner agencies and community organisations about the impact of domestic abuse and the needs of children and young people.
Participate in regular supervision with your line manager.
Support colleagues and volunteers to carry out their roles effectively where appropriate.
Support the collection and completion of monitoring, evaluation and reporting processes.

Support

Maintain a working knowledge of policies and procedures.
Promote and support project activity, development and participation by service users.

Safeguarding and Reporting

Follow all administrative systems and procedures for the project
Contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement processes.
Seek regular feedback from young people, schools and organisations and contribute to evaluation and review activity.
Maintain high-quality records and reports relating to support and delivery.
Comply with health and safety requirements and risk assessment processes across the project.
Contribute to the regular review of health and safety procedures.

Additional Requirements

Work flexibly to meet service needs.
Engage in regular supervision with your line manager.
Attend and participate in staff meetings.
Participate in relevant training appropriate to the role and grade.
Liaise with and engage other professionals as appropriate.

In addition, other duties of a similar level of responsibility may be required from time to time.

General

Work as a member of the team to ensure effective delivery of service and individual work plans, including working across teams where appropriate
Maintain a working knowledge and comply with TLC policies and procedures including health and safety
Engage in supervision, performance reviews and training
To provide services in an anti-discriminatory manner in accordance with TLC’s Equality and diversity policy
At all times represent The Liberty Centre in a professional, approachable and service user focused manner, ensuring that confidentiality is observed

Understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on children and young people, with the ability to respond sensitively and appropriately. - Essential

Ability to communicate effectively with children and young people from a range of ages and backgrounds.- Essential

Ability to support children and young people to build confidence and develop social and communication skills - Essential

Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work to the programs plan, facilitate, evaluate and record group and individual sessions with children and young people, as outlined by the coordinator.- Essential

Ability to build supportive and trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries. - Essential

Ability to listen in a non-judgemental way and help young people explore safe and unsafe behaviours - Essential

Experience of delivering work using person-centred and trauma-informed approaches.- Essential

Ability to build effective relationships and promote positive engagement in group settings.- Essential

Understanding of risk assessment and safeguarding procedures.- Essential

Knowledge of associated needs, including adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and their impact.- Essential

Access to a car and hold a clean driving license - Essential
