The Role

Looking for your next step in payroll where you can really make an impact? We’re looking for a detail-driven and organised Payroll Associate/Assistant to join our friendly team in Liverpool.

This is a great opportunity to build on your experience while working with a varied client portfolio in a supportive and fast-paced environment.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll take ownership of weekly and monthly payrolls for a diverse range of clients, ensuring everything is processed accurately and on time. Alongside payroll, you’ll also play a key role in keeping things running smoothly.

Your day-to-day will include:

Processing weekly and monthly payrolls across multiple clients
Managing starters, leavers, and changes to employee records
Calculating statutory payments, holiday pay, and pensions
Submitting RTI to HMRC and ensuring compliance with UK payroll regulations
Preparing payslips and payroll documentation
Responding to client and colleague queries with professionalism and care
Supporting pension administration and year-end processes
Assisting with reporting, compliance tasks, and ad hoc projects

What we’re looking for

1–3 years’ experience in a payroll bureau or multi-client payroll environment
Good working knowledge of UK payroll legislation
Experience with payroll systems (BrightPay preferred) and Excel
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Ability to prioritise and manage multiple deadlines
A proactive, team-focused approach
Professional communication skills and a client-focused mindset
A high level of discretion when handling confidential information

Working Hours & Benefits

Hours: 35 per week
Working pattern: 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
Lunch: 1 hour daily (unpaid)
Annual leave: 20 days plus bank holidays
Competitive salary: up to £27,000
