We are seeking a commercially astute and strategic Commercial Construction Lead to take ownership of commercial governance and financial performance on a major heavy steel monopile manufacturing project. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for ensuring robust cost control, contractual compliance, and sustainable profitability across the full project lifecycle.
Operating within a complex, high-value industrial environment, the role will lead on budgeting, forecasting, contract administration, and value optimisation across procurement, fabrication, and delivery activities. Working closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams, the Commercial Construction Lead will proactively manage risk, oversee change processes, and safeguard project cash flow.

Key responsibilities:

Lead the commercial strategy and financial governance of the project

Manage cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting

Oversee contract administration, ensuring compliance with relevant contract frameworks
- Manage change control processes, variations, and commercial risk mitigation

Safeguard project cash flow and financial performance

Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to drive value across operations

Oversee procurement and subcontract management activities

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers

Identify and manage commercial risks in a proactive and structured manner

Support delivery of large-scale manufacturing and infrastructure outputs within budget
Key requirements:

Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline

Proven experience in commercial management within heavy industrial, steel fabrication, offshore wind, or large-scale infrastructure projects

Strong working knowledge of NEC or similar construction/engineering contracts, including change control, claims, and contract administration

Demonstrable experience managing cost control and financial reporting on multi-million-pound projects

Strong understanding of heavy steel production processes, including:

Fabrication workflows

Welding and coating processes

Plate steel supply chains

Load-out and transport logistics

Experience in procurement and subcontract management within a project-driven environment

Advanced analytical and numerical skills, with strong proficiency in cost tracking tools (e.g. Excel, ERP systems, project controls software)
