Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Tearooms Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food preparation and culinary arts, with a keen eye for food safety and presentation. This role offers an opportunity to work in a welcoming environment where quality and customer satisfaction are paramount. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing delicious meals and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen during service hours.

Duties

Prepare a variety of meals and baked goods in accordance with recipes and quality standards
Cook and assemble dishes efficiently, maintaining consistency and presentation
Ensure all food safety regulations are adhered to, including proper storage, handling, and cleanliness
Assist in menu planning and ingredient selection as required
Maintain organisation of the kitchen area, including cleaning utensils, work surfaces, and equipment after use
Serve food to customers in a friendly and professional manner when necessary
Monitor stock levels and notify management of supplies needed for upcoming service periods
Support team members during busy periods to ensure timely service

Experience

Previous experience in food preparation or cooking within a café, restaurant, or similar setting is desirable
Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations is essential
Experience with meal preparation, baking, or pastry work is advantageous
Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools used in a professional environment
Good organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Prior experience in serving customers is a plus but not mandatory; training will be provided for all aspects of the role
