About Us:

Braddan Plant Hire is a leading independent provider of powered access equipment rental, offering a comprehensive fleet of cherry pickers, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and telehandlers as well as IPAF and PASMA training. Serving customers across the northeast and nationally through the access alliance we pride ourselves on safety, reliability, and outstanding customer service.

We are seeking an experienced and CAP‑qualified Powered Access Engineer to join our Darlington depot. You will carry out inspections, servicing, repairs, and LOLER examinations across a modern fleet of powered access equipment, ensuring machines are delivered to customers safely and in excellent working order.

This role suits someone with strong technical ability, high safety standards, and a proactive approach to engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

Service, maintain, and repair powered access equipment (scissor lifts, booms, personnel lifts, tracked spiders).
Complete LOLER examinations and maintain accurate inspection records.
Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical faults.
Prepare machines for hire to meet company safety and quality standards.
Attend customer sites for breakdowns and technical support.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
Overhaul current operating systems and procedures to ensure a smooth transition into a future proofed optimised way of working.

What We’re Looking For

IPAF CAP Certified Engineer – essential
Strong background in powered access, plant, or mechanical engineering
Solid understanding of hydraulics, electrics, and diesel systems
LOLER inspection experience (additional training can be provided)
Full UK driving licence
A safety‑focused, reliable, and customer‑friendly approach
