Pest Control Technician (part of a small local team)
Full-time | Pestforce Croydon & Bromley (South East London) | “Will over Skill” mindset essential
## In our business we look at things DIFFERENTLY. We look for people that aren’t ordinary…… do you want to set new standards in customer service? ##
If any you can answer YES to any of the following, then please DO NOT apply.
- Do you measure your success in pest control based on the number of jobs you do each day just to hit your targets and get a bonus?
- Do you look for short cuts to get through jobs quickly and get home early?
- Do you have a CBA attitude (not doing the little things that matter to the customer)?
- It doesn’t matter what the customer thinks as long as I have done my job?
Who we are
We’re a growing Pestforce business, part of The Forces Group – a national brand, with a local delivery focus, values‑driven, multi‑award‑winning pest control network. Our mission is simple: deliver an exceptional customer experience, every time, and “be the best local name that people trust to keep them pest free.”
We’re big enough to cope, but small enough to care – and that’s exactly the balance we want our next technician to bring to the team.
The role in a nutshell
This isn’t a “kick a few bait boxes and disappear” role.
We’re looking for a hands‑on Pest Control Technician who will act as the right hand to the Senior Technician – someone who’s as comfortable tackling a tricky rat job in a loft as they are having a cuppa with a nervous customer at the kitchen table.
There will be quiet days and full‑on days. On the quiet ones, we still move the business forward. On the busy ones, everyone mucks in. No slackers, no passengers – just a proper team.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be out and about most of the time, representing the Pestforce brand on the front line:
- Carrying out surveys, treatments and proofing work for domestic and commercial customers
- Diagnosing pest issues (rodents, insects, wasps, wildlife, etc.) and explaining things in plain English
- Preparing clear treatment reports, recommendations and follow‑up plans
- Delivering a stand‑out customer experience – from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave (sometimes that includes putting the kettle on ☕)
- Being the business “go‑to” on the ground – helping with larger jobs, projects, and new service offerings
- Looking after your van, kit, stock, and PPE so everything is safe, compliant and ready to go
- Using our Ops system and apps to manage jobs, notes, photos and paperwork
- Spotting opportunities to add value for customers (proofing, follow‑up visits, contracts, recommendations) – always ethical, never pushy
- Living our core values every day – especially Be Safe (“Get Home Safe”), Be Positive, Be Curious, Be a Team Player, Be Accountable and Be Clear in your communication
About you – character first
We recruit WILL over SKILL. You’ll get loads of support and training, but we can’t teach attitude. We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a genuinely positive, “can‑do” mindset – you find solutions, not excuses
- Takes pride in their work, uniform and van – you know first impressions really matter
- Is a natural people person – friendly, calm, and able to put anxious customers at ease
- Is happy to roll up their sleeves – lofts, voids, dirty jobs, rainy days… it’s all part of the deal
- Is reliable and punctual – if you say you’ll be somewhere, you’re there
- Is curious and eager to learn – new pests, new products, new techniques, new tech
- Communicates clearly – spoken and written – and doesn’t disappear on customers
- Is a genuine team player – no drama, no diva behaviour; we win (and learn) together
If your natural instinct is to help, to serve and to leave things better than you found them, you’ll fit right in.
Skills & experience
We do need some core technical capability, but we’re not looking for the finished article. The essentials are:
Must‑haves:
- Recognised pest control qualification – e.g. RSPH Level 2 in Pest Management or equivalent
- Full UK driving licence
- Comfortable using smartphones, apps and email for job management and reporting
- Physically able to work in lofts, confined spaces and at height (within safety guidelines)
Nice to have (or happy to work towards):
- BPCA membership / CPD record
- Experience in a field‑based service role (pest control, facilities, trades, etc.)
- Knowledge of local area and a feel for working with both domestic and commercial customers
If you tick most boxes but are a bit light on one or two areas, tell us why your attitude makes up for it.
What we offer
We’ll firm up the package for the right person, but broadly you can expect:
- Competitive salary – [insert range] depending on experience
- Company van, fuel, uniform and PPE
- All specialist equipment and products provided
- Ongoing technical training and CPD (internal and external)
- Supportive, no‑nonsense MD who wants you to grow with the business, not just do the rounds
- Being part of a respected national brand with thousands of 5‑star reviews behind you
Most importantly, you’ll have a real say in how we grow – this isn’t just “a job”; it’s a chance to help shape a business.
