About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Shop Lead to support the day-to-day operations of the store and to play a key part in supporting the owners in the running of the business. This role involves both leadership and active participation in all areas of retail operation, including customer service, stock handling, and supporting the team.
This is not an office-based management position, it is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the shop floor, working alongside a small and friendly team, and taking real pride in the store’s presentation and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and support day-to-day shop operations
- Lead by example on the shop floor to ensure excellent customer service
- Support with opening and closing procedures
- Supervise junior staff and provide informal coaching and guidance
- Assist with stock control, deliveries, and merchandising
- Maintain high standards of health & safety and cleanliness
- Act as a key point of contact when the owners are off-site
- Foster a positive and collaborative working relationship with the owners and wider team
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a retail environment (supervisory or team leader level preferred)
- Strong customer focus and excellent interpersonal skills
- Willingness to be hands-on and involved in all aspects of the day-to-day operation
- Reliable, proactive, and able to lead a small team by example
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- A positive and flexible approach – particularly important during busy seasonal periods
- Familiarity with stock management and till systems is an advantage
