PURPOSE OF POST: The role involves working with others including the clinical skills team in assisting academic staff across the School of Health in delivering clinical skills sessions and in developing and facilitating simulation scenarios that support the development of the student into a safe, competent healthcare professional.

- Contribute to the simulation and skills curriculum development within the School of Health, by supporting the design and delivering high-quality, innovative teaching and learning material, informed by research and professional practice to support and develop student learning, engagement and application in practice at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
• Assist with the enhancement and designed of quality simulation and skills education and provision by ensuring that you maintain and deliver high standards of learning and teaching. • Liaise with the Principal Lecturer, Skills & Simulation and the academic staff to encourage and support the utilisation of simulation and skills within and across the various healthcare programmes, encouraging interprofessional collaboration within the simulation and skills
- Contribute effectively to the design, preparation, delivery, assessment and evaluation of the relevant simulation and skills sessions ensuring the intended learning outcomes are achievable and that all simulation and skills sessions are evidence-based and compliant with local policies and procedures to ensure that the relevant standards are maintained.
- Work collaboratively and communicate well with other academic staff and members of the clinical skills team to ensure the students’ needs with regards to simulation and skills education are met. Assist and guide the Clinical Skills Centre staff in the preparation of skills and scenarios as This also includes assisting with the simulators and equipment set up, moulage and documentation requirements.
- Act as a professional resource to colleagues. Plan, prioritise and organise the work or resources of self and others within own area on a daily, weekly or monthly basis; plan and manage small projects, ensuring the effective use of resources; receive information from and provide information to others to complete their planning; monitor progress against the plan
- Use simulation-based education to encourage student involvement and advance their independent learning, adapting delivery to suit learner’s
- Contribute to the development of the service including reviewing processes and making recommendations for change.
- Assist with the preparation and assessment for skills competency Observed Practical Clinical Examinations.
- Participate in data collection, audit and research within the fields of simulation and clinical skills. Work collaboratively to identify an appropriate method of analysis or investigation according to the data and objectives; recognise and interpret trends or patterns in data.
- Assist in the delivery of student recruitment activities including Open Days and attend and participate in meetings and working groups as appropriate keeping the clinical skills team informed about any updates or decisions made.
- Keep abreast with best practices in educational strategies and current technology to continually enhance the stature and effectiveness of the simulation sessions.
- Undertake appropriate training and development as required to fulfil the role, including statutory training.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Professional Memberships
- Current Professional Registration (NMC, HCPC, GMC)
- Educated to degree level (in a discipline relevant to the role)
Knowledge
- Relevant and current skills and knowledge as evidenced through up to date/recent qualifications and/or continuing professional development, clinical practice and teaching
A proven interest in teaching with an enthusiastic and innovative approach
Experience
- Experience of teaching a range of clinical skills within practice or a University setting.
- Current experience of working in a healthcare clinical setting in a relevant
- Experience of managing small and large group

- Recognised HE teaching qualification or willing to undertake relevant educational qualification
Knowledge
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)/breakaway Train the Trainer course and/or Immediate life Support course.
Experience
- Experience of developing, delivering and evaluating teaching
- Experience of using simulation-based education using human patient simulators and/or simulated participants/ Volunteer patients.
- Experience of debriefing using a recognised model/framework
