Job Purpose
We are seeking a professional and reliable Security Officer to be based in the Gatehouse of a busy site. The successful candidate will be responsible for controlling access to the premises, monitoring site activity, providing excellent customer service to visitors and staff, and acting as the first point of contact during emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Control access to the site by checking and authorising staff, visitors, contractors, and delivery drivers.
- Ensure all visitors are signed in and out in accordance with site procedures.
- Verify identification and issue visitor passes where required.
- Receive, record, and manage deliveries arriving at the site.
- Monitor CCTV systems and security alarms (where applicable).
- Conduct regular security checks and maintain accurate records and logs.
- Respond promptly to incidents, security breaches, and emergencies.
- Act as the Point of Contact (POC) during emergency situations until management or emergency services arrive.
- Liaise with emergency services and provide assistance when required.
- Maintain a professional and courteous manner when dealing with staff, visitors, contractors, and members of the public.
- Ensure all site security procedures and health & safety regulations are followed.
- Complete incident reports and handover notes accurately and promptly.
- Report any suspicious activity, hazards, or maintenance issues to management.
Essential Requirements
- Valid SIA Security Guarding or Door Supervisor Licence.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Good IT skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous Gatehouse or Reception Security experience.
- CCTV Licence.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Experience working within industrial, logistics, or corporate environments.

Working Hours
This position operates on a 12-hour shift pattern consisting of 2 day shifts, 2 night shifts, and 6 days off. Flexibility is required to cover holidays, sickness, and other absences as operationally necessary. Shifts may include weekends and bank holidays.
