Full job description

Due to continued growth, PayStream Accounting Services Limited have an opening for a Cyber Security Engineer to join our IT department at our Altrincham office. Hybrid working options available subject to training and probation.

This is a hands-on role combining security operations and engineering, covering the day-to-day management of security technologies, investigation and response to security events, and the continuous improvement of PayStream’s security posture across on-premises and cloud environments. The role suits a technically strong, detail-focused engineer who enjoys ownership, variety, and tackling real-world security challenges.

The Role:

Implementation, management and maintenance of security configuration, toolsets and technologies
Investigation of security events and incidents as required in tandem with the Managed SOC
Resolution of service requests, incidents and problems
Identification and remediation of vulnerabilities
Identification of control gaps and ensuring adherence to best practice and standards
Creation and maintenance of operational procedures, configuration and technical documentation
Maintaining an awareness of new and emerging security technologies and threats

The Person:

Demonstrable passion and enthusiasm for security, including the ability to keep current with the latest threats, technologies and trends
Strong attention to detail
Desire to learn
A positive can-do attitude, being punctual and reliable
The ability to work closely and collaboratively with the Security, IT and other teams and also independently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical security issues to both non-security and non-technical stakeholders
Acting with integrity and maintaining confidentiality

Requirements:

Minimum grade C in Maths and English (or equivalent)
Prior experience in an IT or security-related role
Experience following change management and similar ITIL best practice
Strong knowledge of security technologies (NGFW, WAF, EDR, SIEM etc.)
Security certification, e.g. CompTIA Security+, GIAC GISF/GSEC
