At Nottingham Building Society our talent acquisition approach is rooted in openness and inclusive hiring, so even if you don’t feel you tick every box, we’d still genuinely love to hear from you.
Due to continued investment in our Technology Operations capability, we have two exciting opportunities available for Systems Engineers – Security Remediation & Patching to join our Technology & Transformation team.
We are an ambitious building society using technology to support secure, resilient and reliable services for our members and colleagues. This is a great opportunity for experienced Systems Engineers who enjoy solving problems, improving infrastructure, and making systems more secure and supportable.
You’ll join a warm and collaborative team supporting the Society’s infrastructure and wider technology estate. These roles are broad Systems Engineer roles first, with additional depth in Windows Server security, patching, vulnerability remediation, operating system hardening, secure configuration and operational improvement.
We’re looking for engineers who are proactive and curious. This is not just about responding to tickets or waiting to be directed day to day. We want people who can identify risks, spot improvement opportunities, bring well-considered solutions to the table, and help deliver those improvements safely through change control, testing, rollback planning and evidence.
Here’s a taste of what you will be doing as a Systems Engineer at Nottingham Building Society:
- Infrastructure & Platform Support – Support, maintain and continuously improve infrastructure, operating systems, platforms and supporting services across the Technology Operations estate.
- Technical Support & Service Delivery – Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for incidents, problems, service requests, changes and project activity.

- Change Planning & Implementation – Assess live service impact and manage change activities through planning, testing, validation, implementation and rollback processes.
- Identity & Access Management – Strengthen and support core services including Active Directory, privileged access controls, service accounts, local administrator controls and Group Policy configurations.
- Documentation & Operational Excellence – Create and maintain clear technical documentation, implementation plans, support guides and operational runbooks.
- Continuous Improvement & Operational Resilience – Identify recurring issues and vulnerability trends, work with internal and external stakeholders to drive improvements, and participate in the out-of-hours support rota.
About You
- Windows Server Expertise – Strong experience administering Windows Server environments and supporting enterprise infrastructure, systems and platforms.
- Security & Vulnerability Management – Good understanding of patching, vulnerability remediation, secure configuration, operating system hardening and security best practices.
- Active Directory & Access Controls – Knowledge of Active Directory security, privileged access management, service accounts, access reviews and least-privilege principles.
- Change & Risk Management – Experience working within controlled change environments, including implementation planning, testing, rollback processes and assessing live service impact.
