We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead and manage the Operations department in line with quality, cost and safety standards and to ensure that the company provides the most efficient service meeting the expectations of customers, clients and employees.
COMPETENCIES
- Educated to degree level or a minimum of 5 years Senior Management experience.
- Experience of implementing a production schedule to align scheduled dates with other departments and the overall delivery schedule of machine and aftermarket product lines.
- Competent computer literacy skills to encompass Microsoft, Outlook & Filemaker.
- Demonstrates initiative and enthusiasm.
- The ability to plan, organise and communicate tasks effectively to a team, leading by example.
- An understanding of machine risk assessments and quality standards (ISO 9001)
- Have a strong eye for detail with the ability to identify faults and provide solutions.
- Have a positive attitude with a professional, patient and approachable personality.
- Excellent communication, time management, leadership and employee development skills.
- The ability to follow instructions and prioritise workload productively to meet deadlines.
- The ability to lead, motivate and develop direct reports, demonstrating a driven and results focused work ethic.
MAIN TASKS
1. To adopt good leadership principles to enable all employees within the team to realise their full potential and support continuous improvement.
2. Be responsible and accountable for the on time delivery performance of the overall production schedule for machines and aftermarket product line.
3. To oversee and manage Health and Safety with the Operations Director.
4. Mange the building maintenance, onsite contractors and internal inspection and testing relative to fixed assets.
5. Implement and report on KPIs to the Operations Director suggesting improvements to increase efficiencies, lower costs and continuous improvement strategies.
6. Optimise mechanical and electrical build and engineering production efficiencies to measure and maximise gross profit.
7. Implement processes to assist in ensuring all production targets are met in line with the order book and delivery dates.
8. Coordinate with all the relevant departments to ensure that machines are built in accordance with the schedule resolving any issues within a timely manner.
9. Maximise available machining hours with regards to the manufacture of machined parts and processes.
10. Enensure that all production requirements are met in line with engineering drawings and BOMs.
11. Maintain and monitor all warehouse procedures in line with company set procedures.
12. Manage costs of material, labour and overheads in the Operations Department and submit reports to the management team.
13. Address and investigate problems with work quality, employee relations and other concerns in an effective and timely manner.
14. Recruit new staff in accordance with business requirements with support from HR.
15. Ensure staff adhere to company policies, procedures and quality regulations.
16. Record and monitor holiday requests, ensuring that all departments are adequately always covered.
17. Identify all personal and departmental training needs to ensure that adequate training and development is achieved to a high standard.
18. Conduct performance reviews and motivate team members to identify objectives and development opportunities.
19. Contribute towards maintaining, promoting and developing high standards of Health & Safety standards of self and others to comply with legal requirements.
20. Work towards the utilisation of Lean Manufacturing techniques in line with Company objectives to support the continuous improvement of the Company.
