We’re looking for experienced communications professionals to join our ambitious Communications and Marketing team.
This is a great opportunity for candidates with strong backgrounds in communications and PR, who are confident, diplomatic and enthusiastic.
As one of our Communications Officers, you’ll be responsible for developing and delivering insight-based, creative promotional communication and marketing campaigns, that deliver against our business objectives. You will also work on the Council’s busy media desk, liaising and working closely with local and national press. Good PR skills, a strong news sense, and experience of writing news articles, press releases, statements and other media content is essential, as well as experience of working with and managing media relations. An interest, and experience, in filming and editing short form video is useful. You’ll also work across our internal communications channels to keep our colleagues up to date.
We’re an extremely busy team, but we think our people are some of the best out there! The team is personable, professional, and innovative, and we want our new Communications Officers to mirror those qualities.
As a unitary authority, Derby City Council is responsible for delivering the full range of council services to more than 274,000 residents, so you could be working across a wide range of campaigns or more focused on a particular service area. With Local Government Reorganisation on the horizon, one role would suit someone who’ll relish the challenge of working with our neighbouring councils to explain what it all means. Another role will be focused on bringing together communications for our children and families services in line with the Families First programme.
If you’re customer-focused with a creative outlook, possess a wide range of skills and experience across communications and marketing with plenty of initiative and enthusiasm, we’d be excited to meet you and welcome you to the team.
The roles may include very occasional weekend and evening working.
