Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, hardworking, and environmentally conscious Farm Park Ranger to support the maintenance, development, and daily operation of our farm park.
This is a fast-paced, physically demanding, and hands-on role requiring resilience, initiative, and a strong work ethic. The role combines animal husbandry, grounds maintenance, and visitor engagement, contributing to both the safety of the site and the experience of our visitors.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills in animal care, maintenance, equipment handling, and environmental stewardship within a busy outdoor setting.
Physical & Role Requirements (Important)
This role involves:
- Working with large animals,
- Operating heavy equipment, tools, and machinery
- Carrying out manual labour and heavy lifting daily
- Working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Performing tasks under pressure in a busy, fast-paced environment
Applicants must be physically fit, capable, and comfortable with demanding practical work.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Animal Husbandry & Welfare
- Daily feeding, watering, and care of farm animals
- Cleaning enclosures and maintaining hygiene standards
- Monitoring animal health and wellbeing
- Supporting safe handling of animals and maintaining welfare standards
Grounds Maintenance & Site Upkeep
- Conduct regular checks of the farm park to ensure safety and presentation
- Maintain pathways, fencing, signage, and facilities
- Carry out general repairs, upkeep, and improvement tasks
- Perform horticultural duties such as planting, watering, pruning, and landscape management
- Manage irrigation systems and ensure grounds are well maintained
Equipment & Practical Work
- Use hand tools, power tools, and machinery safely and effectively
- Assist with equipment maintenance and basic repairs
- Operate machinery for tasks such as site maintenance and habitat management
- Carry out heavy lifting and manual tasks following safety procedures
Visitor Interaction & Education
- Welcome visitors and provide a friendly, engaging experience
- Support animal interactions and educational activities
- Assist with children’s activities and engagement sessions
- Provide information about animals, the farm, and conservation work
- Promote the charity’s values and community work
Environmental Awareness & Site Monitoring
- Monitor environmental conditions such as water levels, animal welfare, and grounds condition
- Support conservation and sustainability practices across the farm
- Assist in maintaining safe and healthy habitats for animals

Desirable Experience (Not Essential)
- Animal care, farming, or agricultural experience
- Grounds maintenance, horticulture, or landscaping
- Experience using tools, machinery, or carrying out repairs
- Experience working with children or in a visitor-facing role
- Basic understanding of environmental or conservation practices
